The Clinton County Solid Waste Authority owns and operates the Wayne Township Landfill located in McElhattan, PA under Waste Disposal Permit No. 100955. The landfill was originally permitted in 1973 and was re-permitted in 1990 due the Municipal Waste Management Regulations promulgated on April 9, 1988. The new regulations resulted in the construction of a new, state of the art, Subtitle D, 33.2 acre 100-mil HDPE doubled lined disposal facility.

Our landfill accepts the following types of wastes:

As of January 2005 and based on an average of 450 tons per day, the landfill has approximately 12 years of disposal capacity. The landfill maximum daily volume is 1500 tons.

The landfill is located in north central Pennsylvania on State Route 1005, approximately 0.5 miles from the McElhattan exit on State Route 220 click here for directions..

The Authority is evaluating the feasibility of redevelopment of the closed unlined landfill. This 60 acre site was filled using both trench and area fill disposal methods. Development of this site would provide for an additional 9,000,000 cubic yards of capacity.
